Vision & Hearing
California Telephone Access Program (C-TAP)
This is the Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program for the State of California. They offer free, specialized phones and related equipment that can make it easier to hear, dial, and place calls. This equipment is available to any resident of California regardless of income. They can provide equipment for those with vision, hearing, language, memory, amd mobility impairments. All equipment is on loan to residents. It is maintained by the program and can be repaired or replaced at no cost, at any time.

Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (LSH)
LSH helps people who meet our guidelines to obtain critically needed hearing aids. If the applicant meets the guidelines, LSH will fund or share in the cost of providing hearing aids to the applicant, dispensed through a local hearing aid dispensary. In some cases LSH may also cover copay costs for those with insurance.

Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD)
Provide communication assistance, peer counseling, advocacy, independent living skills, employment assistance, information and referrals, and community education. Serve individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, and those who lost their hearing late in life.

Braille Institute
Serving the blind, individuals with very low vision, and their families. Have 5 regional centers and over 220 outreach locations. Offer free services for adults, young adults, youth, and children. Services include specialized library (books on tape & equipment to listen to them, braille books, large print books, and other publications), technology center, classes & socialization programs, vision assessments & device development to protect remaining vision, vocational services, daily living training, mobility training, etc.

The Lions L.O.V.E Program
Provide comprehensive exams, correction, and treatment from the Optometric Center and the College of Optometry to anyone, any age needing low vision services or with more serious visual problems. The services of the Lions Low Vision Services (L.O.V.E.) Program are available to those referred to the program by Lions Clubs, schools and other designated agencies.

EyeCare America, one of the country’s leading public service programs provides eye care through a pool of nearly 6,000 volunteer ophthalmologists. Ninety percent of the care provided is at no out-of-pocket cost to the patient. Two programs: 1) The Seniors Program 2) The Glaucoma Program.
