Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) was ranked as No. 44 among healthcare providers and insurers and received the #1 ranking for ‘Family-Friendliest’ in Modern Healthcare’s 2019 Best Places to Work in Healthcare list.
BCHD was also named as a finalist for the Healthiest Workplace Award (ranked 4th), which it has received twice. In addition, this is the third year BCHD is receiving acknowledgement as a family-friendly workplace by Modern Healthcare.
“It’s important to walk our talk. As a preventive healthcare center, we let everyone know we’re a family-friendly environment,” said Megan Vixie, chief engagement officer. Twice a year, supervisors sit down with employees to not only discuss their career goals but also their work/life balance. “They try to understand and make sure the workload isn’t an additional burden on their life. We are family first, we just need to know about those problems.”
BCHD has made Modern Healthcare’s Top Best Places to Work in Healthcare list since 2013, including earning an additional award for being a millennial-friendly workplace in 2018. As part of the ranking, Modern Healthcare partners with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.
Sogia Thach, Worksite Wellness Coordinator, and Simrit Dugal, HR Manager, attended the 2019 Best Places to Work Awards on Sept. 26 in Dallas to accept the award.
