Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) has partnered with allcove, a program developing an innovative network of integrated youth mental health centers across California. Funded by the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), a $2.5 million, 4-year grant established “allcove Beach Cities,” a center for young people ages 12-25, now open at 514 N. Prospect Ave., 4th Floor, in Redondo Beach. BCHD was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health to apply for the funds, and is also supported by the Stanford Center for Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing.

BCHD has secured additional funding for allcove Beach Cities from: 

  • Federal Community Project Funding, FY2023, Representative Ted Lieu ($1,000,000) 
  • California’s Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program ($6,337,000) 
  • California Department of Health Care Services Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative – Round 4 ($1,000,000) 
  • Mental Health Student Services Act – 004 ($300,000) 
  • Beach Cities Health District, Capital Projects ($532,000) 

Total Funding Secured to date for allcove Beach Cities: $11,669,000

allcove Beach Cities offers mental and physical health services, education and employment assistance, peer and family support, and substance use prevention programs for young people ages 12-25 in the greater South Bay of Service Planning Area (SPA) 8. 

SPA 8 serves the communities of Athens, Avalon, Carson, Catalina Island, El Segundo, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Long Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Dominguez, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, San Pedro, Torrance, Wilmington and others. 

allcove Beach Cities is one of three allcove locations opening throughout the state. allcove Beach Cities will be a permanent feature in BCHD’s Healthy Living Campus project, which includes a re-design of its current Prospect Avenue campus. Construction on the Healthy Living Campus project is tentatively slated to begin in fall 2024. Click here for more information on the Campus.  


South Bay Leadership & Wellness Conference

Beach Cities Health District, in partnership with allcove Beach Cities and Indivisible Arts, hosted the first-ever South Bay Leadership & Wellness Conference for young people, ages 12 to 25 on Saturday, May 18 at allcove Beach Cities. Seventy-five young leaders representing more than 30 youth organizations from across the South Bay gathered to discuss mental health, wellness, advocacy and other important topics facing their generation. allcove Beach Cities Metrics Dashboard

RFQ Update

Notice of RFQ/P for Progressive Design-Build Contract for allcove Beach Cities Youth Wellness Center Project

Notice is hereby given that Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) will receive Statement of Qualifications/Proposals (SOQ/Proposals) from Progressive Design-Build Entities to provide design and construction services for the allcove Beach Cities Youth Wellness Center Project. Any qualified design-build entity may submit their Statement of Qualifications and Proposal for a Best Value Selection process as defined in State of California SB 706 Public Contract Code Part 3,  Division 2 Chapter 4.7.

The District intends to select a Design-Build Entity that will be responsible for assembling their team consisting of the general contractor, modular building firm, architect, engineers and other sub-consultants and key team members.

This new, 9,400 sq. ft. modular building will be two stories and will include offices, conference facilities, open lounge space and group chat rooms. Site scope also includes utilities, grading,  paving, retaining wall, landscaping, vehicle charging stations, site lighting and other site development items. Project is located at 1272 Beryl Street, Redondo Beach, CA 90277.

What is allcove

allcoveTM is developing an innovative network of integrated youth mental health centers designed with, by and for youth that reduce stigma, embrace mental wellness, increase community connection and provide access to culturally responsive services. allcove centers welcome young people ages 12 to 25 with mild to moderate needs, providing a unique space for them to access services, with resources and support for friends, family and the larger community. The centers are embedded within the community they serve and reflect the unique needs of local youth.

allcove Beach Cities is the first allcove center in southern California.
