REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (December 1, 2021) – Residents and employees of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach have access to free assistance with Covered California enrollment – the state’s implementation of the Affordable Care Act – through Beach Cities Health District (BCHD). Open enrollment, a time when individuals and families can explore and purchase health insurance policies for 2022, is now open until January 31, 2022. If you have a qualifying life event, you may also enroll in Covered California outside of regular open enrollment.
Even if a person or family only needs coverage for a few months, residents can look to Covered California throughout the year for your health insurance needs. By law, coverage can no longer be dropped or denied, even if the patient has a pre-existing medical condition or becomes sick.
BCHD has a team of certified enrollment counselors ready to assist residents and families in applying for health insurance or simply reviewing their available health insurance options.
For assistance with Covered California, please call (310) 374-3426 and press option 1. All interested parties are also asked to have the following on hand:
• Name/birth date of each person being enrolled
• Social Security number of each enrollee
• Most recent income tax filings or annual income account
• Current health coverage status, if any
Please visit bchd.org/covered-california-medical for more information or call (310) 374-3426 and press option 1.
