School Safety Supports Mental Health: Experiences of LGBTQ+ Students in our Public Schools

Tuesday, September 24 from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

 

Join us for an informative evening focused on illuminating the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in our local public schools. Your attendance is critical because safe and supportive school climates are important for all students, but they are particularly important for LGBTQ+ youth who face bullying, harassment, and assault while at school simply because of who they are. These experiences contribute to the higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidality they face in comparison to their straight/cisgender peers. No registration required. VIEW FLYER

High School Seniors and Community College Transfer Students – come to this two-part workshop to kickstart your college essay writing process by engaging in a variety of interactive activities. This college essay workshop will teach you what the college application essays are about and how to avoid common mistakes. It is designed to foster self-reflection, create building blocks for your essays and fast track the writing process.

Are you the first in your family to go to college?! Come and learn about tips and strategies on managing stress while in college and hear from other youth that are attending college; share ideas and tips!

overdose prevention training

Thursday, October 24 from 5 – 6 p.m.

 

Come learn valuable life-saving knowledge and skills on overdose prevention. This training will cover essential topics such as recognizing the signs of an overdose, administering naloxone, and providing critical support until professional help arrives. At the end of each training, attendees will have the opportunity to take home a naloxone kit and an instructional pamphlet.
