Beach Cities Health District’s Blue Zones Eatery of the Month: L.O.V.E. Premier Catering & Event Planning

Congratulations to L.O.V.E. Premier Catering & Event Planning, Beach Cities’ newest premier catering and event planning one-stop shop that aligns with our #BlueZonesProject guidelines! Owner Shirrell Edey says L.O.V.E stands for "Living Our Vision Everyday" because sharing healthy dishes is her passion and purpose.

“After understanding Beach Cities Health District’s Blue Zones Project and its mission to help others live longer, better, I began preparing my meals with that in mind,” said Edey.

L.O.V.E. offers plant-based options and specialty dishes, including Mediterranean inspired delights, Jamaican and jerk spiced meals, Asian entrées like sushi, and a full range of seafood dishes.

Three of L.O.V.E.’s Blue Zones inspired dishes:

  1. Vegan Gumbo

Mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, celery, kidney beans, fresh corn, sweet potatoes and turnip greens seasoned with a secret blend of plant-based ingredients. Includes a side of brown rice, pickled cucumbers and fruit kebabs. 

  1. BBQ Chickpea Salad

Romaine lettuce hearts topped with chickpeas sautéed with Hickory BBQ sauce, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, sliced cucumbers, red onion, vegan creamy ranch dressing and garnished with lime wedges.

  1. Hummus & Grilled Veggie Bowl

Brown rice topped with grilled red onion, zucchini, red bell pepper, mushrooms and corn accompanied by a dollop of hummus and whole grain pita bread garnished with cilantro and lime wedges.
