Volunteer Day

Our network of volunteers forms the backbone of Beach Cities Health District (BCHD). Diverse, motivated and talented, BCHD volunteers work in a variety of community-focused programs and play an integral role in improving the health and well-being of Beach Cities residents.

Volunteer Day is an annual Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) community service event where South Bay residents, businesses and organizations come together to support our LiveWell Kids program. Each summer, we partner with many volunteers to prepare 13 elementary school gardens across Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach for a new year of hands‑on garden and nutrition lessons. The LiveWell Kids gardens are more than plants and soil — they serve as living classrooms that spark curiosity, build healthy habits, and connect students to the natural world. Volunteer Day ensures these gardens thrive and remain ready for hands‑on learning year after year.

We’re excited to bring this event back in 2026!
