What do you get when you combine a strength and core workout with stretching, graceful movements and a relaxing atmosphere? Pilates—one of the best all-around fitness programs available. 

There are two main types of Pilates, mat Pilates and reformer Pilates, and the Center for Health and Fitness offers an incredible amount of each. Both incorporate equipment to create resistance and build strength. But while mat Pilates is done with a mat on the floor, Reformer Pilates use a reformer machine harnessing additional springs and body weight to create resistance. 

Beginners and advanced students will both find classes that fit their experience level, but first-time reformer participants are encouraged to take a private reformer Pilates class to feel comfortable on the machine during the group class.
