A Permanent Home for allcove Beach Cities – The Future of Youth Mental Health
Since allcove Beach Cities opened in a temporary location at Beach Cities Health District (BCHD), 514 N.Prospect Ave., Redondo Beach in November 2022, there have been more than 18,000 visits by young people ages 12-25.
More than 2,100 young people and their families have received free services that include mental health, physical health, substance use, peer support, family support, education, and employment. allcove Beach Cities has hosted hundreds of tours and events at allcove, demonstrating that allcove centers can not only provide critical services, but also serve as safe gathering spaces for young people to pursue life skills and wellness offerings in a youth-led space.
Building the Future of Youth Mental Health
The permanent location of allcove Beach Cities broke ground in May 2026 and has a planned move-in date in early 2027. The new facility will be a 2-story, 9,400 square-foot building located at 1272 Beryl St., Redondo Beach, part of BCHD’s overall campus revitalization, the Healthy Living Campus.
BCHD has launched a Capital Campaign to maximize health and sustainability in the new construction. We are currently seeking grants, rebate programs and fundraising opportunities, and we invite and welcome gifts at all levels, with naming opportunities available. Visit bchd.org/give for more information.
Amenities in the permanent location will include:
- “the cove,” a community gathering space for young people to find social support and participate in events including music, art and life skills, plus quiet spaces to study or relax with support around them.
- Chat rooms for therapy, meeting with a physician or wellness programming, and available to young people for group projects or study.
- “the pantry,” a free, all-access snack station for young people to refuel with youth-selected snacks.
- “South Bay Café,” an in-house coffee shop which will also offer an employment training program for young people.
- “the hub,” a meeting space for youth, family and wellness programming.
allcove Beach Cities at the Healthy Living Campus
BCHD has been working closely with the community since 2017 to reimagine our medical campus – home to our 66-year-old former hospital building located at 514 North Prospect Avenue – into an intergenerational Healthy Living Campus. Since May 2017, BCHD has held more than 60 meetings, drawing more than 1,000 comments regarding ways to modernize its property. The Healthy Living Campus will be an intergenerational hub that focuses on wellness and prevention for current and future Beach Cities generations.
allcove Beach Cities will be part of the overall redevelopment alongside:
- Center for Health & Fitness
- Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE)
- Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)
- A Walking Loop and other community benefits like a Community Commons space and a swimming pool
