“allcove Beach Cities is important to me because it has provided me with a safe place to access mental health services or just take a moment to pause within the chaos of life... allcove means a lot to me because it has given me a place where I feel comfortable and supported.” - Alina

More about allcove Beach Cities
allcove Beach Cities is part of an innovative network of integrated youth mental health centers designed with, by and for youth that reduce stigma, embrace mental wellness, increase community connection and provide access to culturally responsive services. allcove centers welcome young people ages 12 to 25 with mild to moderate needs, providing a unique space for them to access services, with resources and support for friends, family and the larger community. The centers are embedded within the community they serve and reflect the unique needs of local youth.
Anchored in a model of care that considers the holistic needs of young people, allcove centers are a place for them to take a moment of pause and access a range of services that include:
- Mental health.
- Physical health.
- Substance use.
- Peer support.
- Family support.
- Supported education and employment.
Everything about allcove is designed with, by and for young people. From the look and feel, to the options youth have to engage in center activities, young people are co-creators and champions.
Since allcove Beach Cities opened in a temporary location on BCHD’s campus in November 2022, there have been nearly 10,000 visits by young people ages 12-25.
Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) received start-up funding from the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission to open allcove Beach Cities in November 2022. The $2.5 million, 4-year grant has allowed all programs and services to be completely free of charge for young people. We want to continue to prioritize access for all, which is why BCHD will continue to pursue grants as well as reimbursement through a typical medical billing model. However, some of the core components of what makes allcove unique – peer support, life and wellness skills, grab and go pantry – aren’t eligible for reimbursement. Your donation will help offset the cost of operating an allcove center and the “no wrong door” policy that allows access for any young person ages 12-25 to access essential mental health and other services.

About allcove Beach Cities and the Healthy Living Campus
allcove Beach Cities is the first building of Beach Cities Health District’s (BCHD) planned revitalization of its 11-acre campus, knows as the Healthy Living Campus project. BCHD is making the Healthy Living Campus a Center of Excellence demonstration project focusing on wellness, prevention and accessibility through research, innovation and emerging technologies. In its design, construction and operations, the campus will live up to its “Healthy Living” name and the preventive health care model of BCHD. As a result, the allcove/BCHD project is setting ambitious goals for environmental sustainability, community wellness and cohesion, and financial sustainability.
The allcove facility will be built at the southwest corner of Beryl Street and Flagler Lane, on land owned by BCHD.
In 2022, BCHD was awarded $6.3 million in grant funding from the California Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP). This statewide program supports behavioral health infrastructure projects, providing new opportunities to address gaps in mental health services. This grant is specifically for the new construction of allcove Beach Cities, which serves young people ages 12-25 in Los Angeles County’s Service Planning Area (SPA).
