Judy Rae
Judy Rae, born and raised in El Segundo, California, never thought she needed to join a gym. She lived by the beach, and there was running, stair climbing, walking and bike riding right outside her front door. Then she was given a free gym membership. In the 10 years since, the gym has become her happy place.
Cycling, in particular, hooked Judy from the start. She started cycling twice a week, then upped it to four times a week to round out a regimen of circuit training and body sculpting. Eventually, a friend saw her enthusiasm for cycling, and encouraged her to share her passion with others. She signed up with Mad Dogg Athletics to become a Certified Cycling Instructor in March 2018, and in 2019, she was hired by Beach Cities Health District’s Center for Health & Fitness. Among her favorite parts of working at CHF is making new playlists, and cycling to all kinds of music genres.
“It’s so fun!” she says. “The people keep me coming back. They inspire me and I push them so they can achieve their fitness goals.”
Judy works full time as an administrator at the Easy Reader Newspaper. Multi-tasking and dealing with clients is what she really enjoys.
“I like talking to the people,” she said.
In her free time, Judy loves to take walks on the beach and look for sea glass and shells. She also makes her own jewelry, and works seasonally for a jewelry designer. She enjoys bike rides on The Strand, and being with her husband, Christopher.
