Manhattan Beach Older Adults Programs

The City of Manhattan Beach provides a variety of activities and services for older adults including Dial-A-Ride transportation, bus excursions, classes and activities, Older Adults Night on the Town, and Senior Club events. Redondo Beach Senior and Family Services

Emphasis is to help seniors establish and maintain healthy and creative life styles that will enable them to remain in their own homes. Major components of programs, services and activities include information and referral, resource guides, special events, clubs and classes at three senior centers, an annual health fair, special needs programs for adults, lunch programs 5 days a week, volunteer opportunities, marketing and advertising, and partnerships and collaborations with local agencies and non profits in the community.

Manhattan Beach Dial-A-Ride

Shared curb to curb bus services for Manhattan Beach residents who are 55+ or any age and disabled. Provides transportation to any destination within Manhattan Beach, 7 days a week, and to most medical facilities in Torrance, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach, Monday through Friday. Also makes special trips to various shopping destinations outside of Manhattan Beach on select designated days of the week.

The WAVE/Beach Cities Transit

The WAVE is a Senior and Disabled curb-to-curb paratransit service operating through a cooperative partnership between the City of Redondo Beach and the City of Hermosa Beach. The WAVE provides convenient, inexpensive shared-ride transportation to destinations within Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach and designated satellite facilities in adjacent communities of Manhattan Beach and Torrance.

Sunrise Assisted Living

Monthly drop-in general caregiver support group. Meets from 6:30PM to 7:30PM the last Thursday of each month. Please call prior to attending group for the first time.

Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman

Administered by Wise and Healthy Aging, the Long Term Care Ombudsman serves as an advocate for residents occupying beds in long-term care facilities in the City and County of Los Angeles. They investigate complaints, provide informal mediation, handle elder abuse reports, and educate residents about their rights under State and Federal regulations. Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) is 24-hour service program to investigate all situations involving seniors (age 65 and older), and dependent adults (age 18-64 and physically or mentally impaired) who are reported to be endangered by physical, sexual or financial abuse, isolation, neglect, or self-neglect.

California LifeLine

This is a state program that offers low income residents of California telephone services at discounted rates. There are two programs that residents can choose, a flat rate, unlimited local calls program, or a measured local service program that allows for 60 local calls per month.

Southern California Edison

Has three programs: CARE and FERA, Energy Assistance Fund, and Energy Savings Assistance Program.
