Board Member Election Process

The Board of Directors of the Beach Cities Health District consists of five (5) Directors, each of whom must be a registered voter residing in the District (see map of jurisdiction). Each Director, elected at large by District voters, serves a term of four (4) years. Any mid-term vacancies on the Board are filled by election or appointment, in accordance with BCHD Policy 2060, Filling a Vacancy on the Board and Section 1780 of the Government Code of the State of California.

Election for District board members is conducted by the County of Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (www.lavote.net). Elections for District Board members are commonly held in conjunction with the November general election. The four-year terms of office are staggered so that either two (2) or (3) board members are elected every two years. Information on filing for office can be found at http://www.lavote.net/

Notice of Election: November 6, 2018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL QUALIFIED VOTERS in the COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, that an election will be held on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2018 for the purpose of electing officers for each of the following districts:

  • 3 Members of BEACH CITIES HEALTH DISTRICT
  • 3 Members of WEST BASIN MUNICIPAL DISTRICT DIVISIONS 1, 2 and 4

Candidates for the above offices must be registered voters residing within the district or division, if applicable, at the time declaration of candidacy is issued pursuant to Section 32100 of the Health and Safety Code, Section 71250 and 71501 of the Water Code and Section 201 of the Elections Code.

Declaration of Candidacy forms for the election are available no earlier than Monday, JULY 16, 2018 and no later than Friday, AUGUST 10, 2018 at the REGISTRAR-RECORDER/COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE, 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, Ca. 90650, 2nd Floor, Room 2013, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Appointment to each elective office will be made as prescribed by Section 10515 of the Elections Code in the event:

  1. There are no nominees or there is an insufficient number of nominees for such office(s) and
  2. A petition signed by 10% or 50 voters in the district or division, if applicable, whichever is the smaller number, requesting that an election be held, has not been presented by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, AUGUST 15, 2018.
