Hepatitis A

The best prevention against hepatitis A is vaccination and soap and water hand hygiene. Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV).

In addition to your healthcare provider, the Department of Public Health is holding free vaccine clinics for people who may be at risk for hepatitis A. Clinic days, times, and locations are posted here

Beach Cities Health District advises residents to follow hepatitis A vaccination guidelines set by the The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, which recommends persons who are homeless and/or who use illicit drugs and to persons who have frequent close contact with the homeless or drug-using populations. This includes those who handle or serve food or who provide personal care, janitorial, maintenance, or sanitation services to these populations.
